Jessica’s Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

jessicasstrawberryicecream copyJessica came up with this recipe and it is excellent.  We have made this a handful of times already this summer.  This would be a perfect ice cream to make for the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend.  The flavor is excellent!  Best homemade strawberry ice cream we have EVER tasted!

Jessica’s Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream
Wash, remove stem and slice…..
5 cups strawberries
and place in bowl.  Add…….
1/2 cup sugar
Combine and let stand 1 hour.  In large mixing bowl add…..
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (3 1/2 ounce) box vanilla pudding
4 cups half and half
Whisk until combined.  Using immersion blender puree strawberries NOT until smooth but just to a rough chop with mostly small bits but also with a few chunks of strawberries remaining.  Then add…..
1/2 cup pure fruit strawberry spread
Once this is added it should get the pureed strawberry mixture up to 4 cups.  Add strawberry mixture to the mixing bowl with base ingredients and whisk to combine.  Process in ice cream maker according to manufacturers directions.  Place in airtight container and freeze.

We perhaps shouldn’t say because we have no ties to these products and yet the ingredients you use can drastically change the flavor of a recipe so with that being said – we have been using Hershey’s Creamy Vanilla Pudding mix and Kirkland (Costco) brand Organic Strawberry Spread.   We think if you use these too that you will love the flavor!
